The Northwest Spay and Neuter Center, a program of the Auburn Valley Humane Society, is a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Although not a full service veterinary office we do provide basic wellness services through our Wellness Program. Volunteers are needed on a regular basis for a variety of tasks to maintain the smooth operation of the clinic. Duties may include helping with laundry, stocking Pet Pantry shelves, scanning documents, front desk greeter, sweeping/mopping and other cleaning tasks, emptying garbage and recyclables, restocking lobby items and special projects. This position requires a tolerance for loud noise, strong odors, and ability to interact with people of all backgrounds. Volunteers may be exposed to various cleaning agents. Volunteers must be able to deal with repetitive scrubbing, bending and minimal lifting. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Shifts are available Monday through Sunday. Shift times vary, but will be between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Mission Statement

The Auburn Valley Humane Society enriches the lives of companion animals and people through animal sheltering, programs and community engagement.

Description

In 2010, in response to budget shortfalls and a decrease in serviced by King Co. Animal Control, concerned citizens and the City of Auburn met to discuss the future of animal care in the City of Auburn. The primary goal was to establish an independent local animal shelter aimed at caring for Auburn Valley’s lost, stray and abandoned pet population. With guidance and support from the City of Auburn and the out-pouring of support from the community, Auburn Valley Humane Society was established and opened its doors to the shelter in early 2013! We strive to employ progressive animal sheltering practices along with a comprehensive approach to company culture. The combination of happy pets and healthy people results in a strong organization prepared for the challenge of animal welfare work and committed to serving our communities.
