Recruiting Organization: Family Services of Greater Vancouver

We are looking for volunteers or a

group of volunteers to make care packages for our Veterans. Heartland Hospice

serves patients who are terminally ill with a prognosis of under 6 months. It

is our goal to make the last days of their lives as comfortable and as

meaningful as possible.

This year on Veteran's Day we would like to deliver care packages to our

patients who served their country through military service. We currently have

approximately 45 Veterans on service.

Care packages need to be delivered to our business office between November 2-6.

Staff will deliver them to our Veteran's the following week.

Care packages can be made using small boxes or gift bags and suggested items

are:

• 1-2 pairs of good socks
• hand lotion
• lip balm
• salty snacks
• hard candy or chocolate
• letters, drawings, and cards
• patriotic masks, lanyards, bandanas, pens, etc.
• what else can you think of? Be creative, have fun, and

keep in mind the dietary and safety issues that may be involved with a

person who is facing a terminal illness.
