Unpaid volunteer, 2-5 hours per week, 6 months or longer, remote.
Anike Foundation is launching a Volunteer-in-Africa Program (VAP) for individuals who wish to travel to Africa to teach children and engage in community development while living among local communities. We are currently preparing to pilot the program and are seeking an Assistant VAP Coordinator to support the foundational work necessary for a successful launch.
Position Summary:
The Assistant VAP Coordinator will work closely with the President to develop and implement the systems, processes, and procedures required to operate the program effectively. This role involves researching and applying best practices from similar volunteer programs and helping to adapt them to Anike Foundation’s mission and context.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the President to establish the operational framework for the VAP pilot phase.
- Research and incorporate best practices from established volunteer programs.
- Liaise with partner organizations in Africa that offer volunteer opportunities.
- Help develop a platform or process for publicizing VAP opportunities to prospective volunteers.
- Establish systems for collecting and analyzing feedback from VAP participants and partner organizations.
- Contribute to documentation and reporting on the pilot phase of the program.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: Bachelors degree
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Experience in program development, volunteer management, or international service preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Cultural sensitivity and a global mindset.
- Ability to interact with multiple organizations & individuals simultaneously
- Self starter who is motivated by and passionate about educating African children
- Enthusiastic team player
