Position Summary:

Welcomes guests into the art gallery during art exhibitions, monitoring the gallery space for the safety of the artwork and visitors, acting as a friendly and knowledgeable representative of the zoo.

Responsibilities

  1. Promotes the safety of the artwork in the gallery and ensures that visitors are not touching/damaging the artwork.
  2. Answers visitor questions about the exhibitions and general zoo information.
  3. Be prepared to discuss the artwork and artists currently on display using a provided list of talking points.
  4. Be prepared to discuss the mission of the zoo.
  5. Perform small cleaning tasks such as picking up trash, clearing spills, cleaning glass in the entryway, etc.
  6. Monitor any necessary equipment including video/audio or other technology (training provided).
  7. Call the rangers or supervisory staff in case of emergency.
  8. Assist as needed in preparation for exhibit openings and other art related classes or events.
