ORGANIZATION: InterFaith Works of Central New York

InterFaith Works has a program called "Center for New Americans" where we resettle New Americans into the Syracuse area. Many New Americans come from countries where the culture is vastly different than our own. A Buddy is a volunteer opportunity to help assist an individual or a family with culture, learning and creating a chance for the New Americans to connect with someone. Some tasks that may come up (please note that it will be different for each case depending on what they want to learn & experience):

  • Trips to doctor appointments
  • Trips to the grocery store
  • Practicing English
  • Field Trips that pertain to the interest of the individual or family
  • Job Assistance
  • School Enrollments

Please note that you will also be in communication with a case worker. They can give you additional resources that would be helpful for the individual or family.
