St. Joseph Villa Homecare and Hospice is seeking Veterans to volunteer in several areas.
- Veteran-to-Veteran: Veterans are matched with a Veteran patient or caregiver. This is an opportunity to provide conversation, companionship, and support to these individuals.
- Gift of Presence: Veterans hold vigil with a dying Veteran, so no Veteran dies alone.
- Veteran Pinning: Veterans provide support at a special ceremony that recognizes Veterans in the community in addition to our Veteran patients.

Description
The Hospice philosophy is based upon caring for the patient and family who are experiencing a terminal illness. Emphasis is placed on improving the quality of life through sympton management, pain control and compassionate support in the patient's home or nursing home. The purpose of Hospice care is to enable patients to live as fully and comfortably as possible by ministering to their physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs, as well as to those needs of thier loved ones. Hospice always affrims life, and neither hastens nor postpones death.
