ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - National Headquarters

Purpose:
This position supports the National Headquarters (NHQ) International Services (ISD) department. This is a 100% virtual (volunteer-from-home) opportunity. Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually. The Volunteer Project Manager will staff key NHQ projects on the ISD and Services to Armed Forces (SAF) Project Portfolio with Project Management expertise. This position will be a member of the ISD/SAF NHQ Project Management Office, and will be assigned to manage one NHQ project.

Responsibilities:

The Volunteer Project Manager will be responsible for managing project through to completion, including:

  • Stakeholder management risk management
  • Creating and maintaining project documentation (e.g. Project Lead to create Project Charter, Project Plan, WBS, etc.)
  • Supporting Project Team on reporting requirements
  • Shepherding project team to hit WBS milestones
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Project Management Certification required (PMP preferred)
  • 10 years of Project Management experience
  • 5 years of experience briefing Senior Leaders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to organize and present information in a clear and concise way to a variety of audiences

Preferred:

  • 5 years’ experience coaching teams on how to use PM tools (e.g. Project Charter, Plan, Work Breakdown Structure: WBS, Risk Register, etc)
  • Volunteer will need reliable access to resources needed to volunteer virtually.

Training:
General Red Cross and ISD

Length Of Appointment:
Minimum 6 month commitment, renewable
