The Neighborhood Youth Outreach (NYO) program brings grassroots tennis and education to youth in underserved areas of Washington, D.C. and Prince George's County. There are multiple sites and times available throughout the year, to sign-up please visit: https://dash.pointapp.org/organizations/1674. You will need to create an account and join our organization to see all volunteer events.

What our volunteers will do:

Assist a JTCC lead coach or teacher with the lesson plan for the day. Please be on court/report to your lead coach 5-10 minutes before the start of class.

Tennis: Generally involves feeding balls, helping players practice the lesson skills and ensuring everyone feels includes and has fun!

Classroom: Assist the teacher with the lesson plan for the day. Usually involves chatting with the students, asking questions and prompting them to think more deeply/engage with the material.

Description

The Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) is a non-profit, world-class tennis training facility that provides a diverse and inclusive environment for players of all ages and abilities. Founded in 1999 with a dedication to offering high performance, premier tennis instruction to motivated junior players in pursuit of college scholarships, the organization later launched the Community Impact Department which contains the Neighborhood Youth Outreach (NYO) program and Adaptive Tennis program. NYO brings free grassroots tennis and educational instruction to youth in underserved communities in Prince George’s County and Washington, D.C. and Adaptive tennis host free and low-cost wheelchair tennis tournaments and socials as well as free clinics for US Veterans.
