ORGANIZATION: Idealist.org

Recruiting Organization: Rocky Mountain Development Council, Inc.

Rocky’s Agency on Aging builds choice, dignity, and engagement of older adults in partnership with the communities of our six-county area of service. Our programs include Medicare/Medicaid counseling, classes, transportation, nutrition services, and companionship to assist our clients in activities of their choice.

According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), Evidence-Based Programs "offer proven ways to promote health and prevent disease among older adults. They are based on research and provide documented health benefits." The NCOA also comments that EBP participants "build skills to take control of their health, from lowering the risk of falling to better managing chronic conditions, engaging in physical activity, and proactively managing mental health."

The Evidence-Based Program Volunteer will receive training to facilitate Evidence Based Program classes agreed upon by the Volunteer, the Education and Outreach Coordinator, and the Program Director. Depending on the class taught, the Volunteer will facilitate the EBP with a co-leader. The Volunteer will work with the Education and Outreach Coordinator to schedule, prepare for, and evaluate the effectiveness of the class.
