Background
A Song for You is a music non-profit based in New York City focused on writing & recording personalized songs for patients & families in hospice & hospitals to bring comfort, joy, and a little bit of peace to those at the end of life. Born in the pandemic, we have been working as an initiative since then,& just recently incorporated into a non-profit. With a generous response from the community & journalists alike, A Song for You has been featured in stories from NBC to ABC to Medium... and most recently, People Magazine. This volunteer position offers the opportunity to build on, create and implement systems from the ground up to further our growth.
Position Description
The Volunteer will function as a primary member of the A Song for You organization. Volunteers are key players on a small team helping a new non-profit build a foundation to promote philanthropy, expand our social media presence and raise funds through grants and support from individual donors. Benefits include contact with donors, high profile individuals (domestically and internationally) in addition to working alongside renowned artists and interacting with various record label companies.
Responsibilities include:
-Identifying appropriate funding opportunities & researching successful fundraising campaigns
-Contributing toward fundraising strategies while helping elevate awareness of & activating the community to increase annual donations
-Conceptualizing online & community revenue sources
-Proactively reach out to supporters & potential donors
-Data entry & record keeping ensuring that all donations are properly tracked & acknowledged
The ideal candidate has:
-Interest & experience in nonprofit work, community building, and fundraising
-Strong writing and communication skills
-Dedicated attention to detail & the ability to take initiative and work independently
-The capacity to think strategically and be familiar with the nonprofit industry & peer-peer fundraising
-Knowledge of GrantWatch and other grant databases (preferred)
-A real comfort level with reaching out to contacts & prospective contacts/donors,
-Engage with community & Board members and program partners.
