About PARENTS AND CHILDREN ADVANCE TOGETHER LITERACY MINISTRIES

Location:

5004 E. Fowler Ave. Suite C-345, Tampa, FL 33617, US

Mission Statement

To provide literacy programs to address the educational needs of children and families residing in under-served communities.

Description

PCAT provides after school educational activities to children in grades K-2nd. Students who are reading at below-grade level are referred to the program by their teachers. Currently the agency serves two Elementary schools in Hillsborough County- Sulphur Springs and Ruskin.

By focusing on addressing children with learning challenges early in their school experience, the program is able to ensure that children most at risk for academic failure achieve educational success. Therefore, the program helps these children to have a better future.

Volunteers provide one-on-one intensive reading instruction which has been proven to be effective in improving reading achievement. Test scores have demonstrated significant progress in reading by students who complete the program, and almost all students are promoted to the next grade.
