Hello There!
Thank you for looking out into this volunteering opportunity. Our team has been committed to serve Hot Oatmeal (with Butter, Cinnamon, Dates, Raisins) and Coffee as breakfast every day to the homeless community on MLK Jr Way in Oakland. We began the service in December of 2018 and has been continuing since then with the help of our short, dedicated and committed volunteers. For us, food is only the means to connect and reach out to the population there in order for us to help them step out of homelessness. Through our conversations, we have helped a lot of folks to get into housing, into local jobs and also reunited few of them with their families.
Today we would like to present this opportunity to anyone from the community to join our team. The volunteer should be willing to shadow one of our volunteers and possibly take up one of the days in the week to serve breakfast! which by itself would help us to reach more people, have more conversations. This would also help us make the best use of our resources and volunteers to backup and help each other.
Although we welcome volunteers who would like to come and help us one of the days but we would highly prefer anyone joining us on a committed basis.
Note:
Many Oaklanders have shared how having this hot breakfast is very fulfilling and gives a great start to the day! Every morning, they look forward, not just to oatmeal but to our conversations filled with Love and Care. During this process, our team identified many individuals who needed employment and helped them to get jobs. The team also counsel individuals and has helped them reduce smoking, decrease in alcohol and drugs consumption to become healthy. As they say, "A healthy body leads to a healthy mind." We have successfully moved people out of homelessness permanently by finding them jobs, housing reuniting with their families and counselling.

All of Sai Aashraya’s Seva Projects take the Highest Quality Seva offerings to the doorstep of the people living in some of the most under-served, diverse and challenging locations. To Love All - Serve All is the Mission that Sai Aashraya is on.
By working around the above mentioned 4 Pillars in every project, we have been successful in providing Holistic care enabling growth and self-sustenance to the family and whole community. In the last 6 years, 9 schools have been adopted, 5.5 million fresh and healthy meals have been served (as of November 2022), 72,000+ patients have been treated and 6 villages have been adopted in the remotest parts of our Country.
Today we are more than half way through the construction of a state of the art, 220 bed Super Specialty Hospital, in Vemagal, Kolar district, near Bangalore, which will provide holistic and loving Medicare, absolutely free of cost to all. The hospital will specialise in Paediatric and Adult Cardiac Care, and Mother & Child Care (OB/GYN).
