Gentiva needs Veteran Volunteers who are willing to share their time and talents to assist patients and their families who are dealing with end-of-life issues.
Trained hospice volunteers, who are also veterans, have a unique ability to support other veterans with a life-limiting illness. They work directly with patients and families to provide companionship, emotional support, socialization, and caregiver respite. Veteran Volunteers are also in demand to conduct Pinning Ceremonies as a final expression of gratitude for the patient's military service.
Our hospice program will provide education on the hospice philosophy and our care model. But we also encourage our Veteran Volunteers to educate our team on military culture. We are also seeking volunteers to lead our monthly Vet-to-Vet Cafés. We bring coffee, donuts, and conversation to skilled nursing facilities in our community to bring veteran residents together.
Gentiva has many different opportunities for veterans to give back to other military families in our community. Give us a call any time at (719) 543-7847 to ask questions and get started!
