Mission Statement

Felita's Love acts as an advocate and resource guide by providing support, resources, and a sense of community to colon cancer fighters, survivors, caregivers and families. We also bring awareness to colon cancer, with a focus on the rise of young on-set colon cancer. Highlighting the importance of advocating for your health, colon cancer screenings, as well as promoting healthy lifestyle habits that can decrease a person's risk of developing cancer. Felita's Love mission is to decrease the number of colon cancer diagnoses and deaths through advocacy and awareness initiatives, encouraging early screenings and education.

Description

Felita’s Love is a 501(c)3 organization founded in 2018 to honor the memory of Felita Rollins who passed away from colon cancer at the age of 45. We are a community outreach and support organization that brings awareness to colon cancer, specifically the rise in young-onset colon cancer among individuals age 45 and younger. Colon Cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths among men and women in the United States. There has been an increase in colon cancer diagnosis in young adults. We have taken a vow to stand behind individuals and their families who have been affected by colon cancer. We afford individuals a platform to express their health challenges, receive emotional support, colon cancer resources, financial support, mental health support and self-care.

We have hosted and participated in several events focused on awareness, advocacy and fundraising. We have also provided financial assistance to colon cancer patients all under the age of 45 (the youngest patient was 12 years old) who were undergoing cancer treatments. Through our Hearts for Blue initiatives our goal is to expand our reach and help more individuals financially with medical care. In addition, we hope too continue to continue our focus by hosting events throughout the community.
