We will be at our booth demonstrating fly tying and teaching youth to cast a fly rod to targets on the ground.

This is a busy and very fun, rewarding event.

Volunteers will need to --
- help set up the booth
- set up rods and targets
- teach youth to cast to targets
- teach youth to tie a fly
- teach youth a board game about the life cycle of a Greenback Cutthroat Trout

You will not be alone!! There will be other helpers!

Pikes Peak Chapter of Trout Unlimited - ​PPCTU strives to conserve, protect, and restore cold-water fisheries resources ​and their watersheds in the Pikes Peak Region and throughout the state of Colorado.

Description

PPCTU defines our role as a leading conservation organization under 3 objectives:
Objective 1

Protect Native Trout: Primary focus for 2022 is on native cutthroats in our Pike Peak Region by focusing on ongoing education, and the initial /reintroduction and maintain Cutthroat trout in the Pikes Peak Region.

Objective 2

Improve AND PROTECT HABITAT (conservation versus recreation): Improve and conserve the cold water habitats and enhance fishing opportunities in the Pikes Peak Region. (notes also include wording to seek opportunities t increase and improve angler access)

Objective 3

Outreach to the Community


Outreach: The primary focus for 2022will be:

  1. Education
  2. Public Relations/Social outreach
  3. Membership Development & Engagement With Multiple fly shops)
  4. Volunteer Development including recognition plan
  5. Programming and Membership Meetings
  6. Financial Development
  7. Special Events -Create three events, two outdoor, one fishing

  • This is a rather easy agenda, not too early and ends at 3. It is a full day.
  • Fly fishing, fly tying, knowledge of conservation, interfacing with people who have never heard of fly fishing or Greenback Cutthroat Trout.
