There will be a team leader giving a talk on conservation while the volunteers set up:

Volunteers meet at the Gazeebo at the Pond in Green Mountain Falls to --
- Assemble rods and put on flies
- Teach youth to cast a fly rod and land a trout safely
- Disassemble rods

There will be two classes of about 20 6th graders. They may or m ay not being flies (streamers) they have tied. Each volunteer takes a student to some place around the pond and teaches them to cast and land a trout.

All the equipment (rods/flies/leader-tippet/split shot, etc.) is provided by Pikes Peak Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Volunteers only need their stream side gear and a net. It is a pond and you do not need waders.

PPCTU defines our role as a leading conservation organization under 3 objectives:
Objective 1

Protect Native Trout: Primary focus for 2022 is on native cutthroats in our Pike Peak Region by focusing on ongoing education, and the initial /reintroduction and maintain Cutthroat trout in the Pikes Peak Region.

Objective 2

Improve AND PROTECT HABITAT (conservation versus recreation): Improve and conserve the cold water habitats and enhance fishing opportunities in the Pikes Peak Region. (notes also include wording to seek opportunities t increase and improve angler access)

Outreach to the Community


Outreach: The primary focus for 2022will be:

  1. Education
  2. Public Relations/Social outreach
  3. Membership Development & Engagement With Multiple fly shops)
  4. Volunteer Development including recognition plan
  5. Programming and Membership Meetings
  6. Financial Development
  7. Special Events -Create three events, two outdoor, one fishing
