BoardPlus is a structure for GHESKIO/HGHA that provides opportunities for young professionals who wish to meaningfully connect with a non-profit that has a compelling mission that resonates on a personal and professional level.

Key Objectives:

Provide participants the opportunity to learn about, and participate in, the management of a non-profit. Activities may include attending board meetings as observers, one-on-one meetings with board members or the ED to discuss internal processes (i.e. audit, financials, fundraising, etc.) and other activities to be determined.

Participants have the opportunity to participate in fundraising. Activities may include contributing to written proposals, attending or hosting "friend-raisers," sourcing opportunities for funding (corporate or foundation) through web-based research, networking and/or making introductions to the ED of potential donors who may wish to host a fundraiser or lead a peer-based fundraising activity.

Provide participants an opportunity to utilize their unique skills and contribute to advancing the mission, visibility and viability of HGHA to benefit GHESKIO in Haiti.

Expected Results:

Participants will get first-hand experience in fundraising, management and oversight of a non-profit. Optimally, the experience will set up the participant to move on after their term to work on the board or lead activities at a non-profit of their choosing.

Participants and the leadership of GHESKIO/HGHA will determine together what areas are optimal for collaboration over an agreed-upon time period.

BoardPlus members are encouraged to make a donation to Haitian Global Health Alliance in the spirit of advancing philanthropy amongst people early in their careers.
