You will be responsible for designing 3D models and puzzles that are both engaging and accessible to Deaf participants. This will involve working closely with the team running the puzzle room to understand their needs and design puzzles and models that are both challenging and fun for players.

Skillsets

  • Proficiency with CAD software, such as Onshape, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar programs.
  • Experience designing 3D models for 3D printing.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to create precise and accurate designs.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing processes and best practices for creating printable models.
  • Experience with prototyping and testing designs to ensure they are functional and meet project requirements.
  • Knowledge of CAD modeling techniques, such as parametric modeling, surface modeling, and solid modeling.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing materials and their properties, such as ABS, PLA, PETG, and others.
  • Knowledge of 3D printing technologies, such as FDM, SLA, SLS, and others.
  • Experience with post-processing 3D printed parts to achieve a high-quality finish.

CymaSpace is a non-profit performing arts & technology incubator in Portland, Oregon.

Our mission is to make the performing arts more accessible and inclusive to Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities by supporting the development of projects and education programs utilizing Cymatic technology (translating sound waves into visual and tactile phenomena) and presenting these works in live performance.

We believe that when artists involve more of the senses, their work is not only more accessible and inclusive, but also more engaging and exciting.
