ORGANIZATION: Girls on the Run of the Rockies
Please visit the new page to apply.
Get up, get out, and come prepare a group of girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. In between high fives and lots of laughs, these girls will look up to you as a model of what it means to live confidently. You’ve got it. Help them get it too.
Girls on the Run relies on volunteers to help us coach our programs. Coaches work directly with 3rd-5th graders or 6th-8th graders, teaching them healthy habits and training them for the big celebratory 5K run! Each team typically consists of 2-3 coaches and 8-21 girls.
Information on coach requirements and expectations is below:
When will teams meet? Teams typically meet twice a week from the week of March 6th through May 20th. Each session is approximately 90 minutes, and most teams meet from about 3:00pm/3:30pm - 4:30pm/5:00pm. Coaches should attend all 20 sessions during the season.
- Coaches must be available after-school hours, typically between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
- Our 10 week programs meet twice a week, after-school for an hour and a half. Coaches are expected to attend every session.
- All New coaches must attend one of the in-person training sessions offered for the season, as well as complete online coursework prior to training. The total time investment of training is approximately 6-8 hours.

Description
Girls on the Run(r) is a 501(c)3 physical activity-based positive youth development (PA-PYD) program designed to develop and enhance girls’ social, psychological, and physical competencies to successfully navigate life experiences. The Girls on the Run(r) program combines training for a 5k with an interactive curriculum targeting the promotion of competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, and contribution.
Girls on the Run(r) creates a psychologically safe environment for girls to learn about themselves, connect with others, and contribute to the community. Focus on competition and ability in physical activity contexts is often a barrier for participation for girls. Girls report more enjoyment, satisfaction and positive relationships with others in climates focused on improvement, skill mastery, effort, and peer support.
