Scholars is Wesley-Rankin’s newest initiative, in partnership with the June Shelton School, to provide reading, spelling, and handwriting intervention for students with learning differences. Shelton is the largest independent school worldwide for intelligent students with learning differences.
How does the program work? The WR Scholars Program offers tutoring using Shelton’s SEE (Sequential English Education) curriculum and a multisensory structured language (MSL) approach.
Auditory and memory exercises are also included.
The Scholars program meets on Saturdays at Wesley-Rankin's main center and Monday-Thursday at St. Mary of Carmel.
We need tutors. Wesley-Rankin has high hopes to grow this program. Yet, we can only take additional students when we have additional tutors. Potential tutors can serve twice per month or more frequently, as able. For volunteers willing to commit to at least three weeks per month, he/she qualifies for paid tutor positions. All training materials are provided.
Training sessions are available at Wesley-Rankin on Saturday, January 14th from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
If interested in more information about this opportunity, please call or email Becky Stegmann, Volunteer Coordinator, at email@example.com or 214.742.6674 x 110.
