Can you spare a few hours a month to help #ENDALZ? Have fun and help plan and grow The Longest Day - the Alzheimer's Association's fastest growing signature fundraiser!
The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice. On June 21, thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of their choice. Together, we use our creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Alzheimer's Association of NENY is seeking volunteers for The Longest Day’s Engagement Committee ("The Relationship Managers"). The Engagement Committee will be in charge of meeting, coaching and recognizing current participants in The Longest Day to help them reach fundraising benchmarks. This committee is responsible for:
- Executing the engagement plan (developed by the staff member and the Engagement Chair) to welcome, thank and touch base with participants
- Offering assistance to participants who might need help reaching their fundraising or recruitment goals
- Leading efforts to recognize participants when they hit fundraising milestones
- Volunteers receive detailed training and will have a committed staff partner and committee chair as resources, as well as room for your own creativity.
- Normal expected time commitment is 2-4 hours per month, varying a bit according to the time of year.

Description
The Northeastern New York Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association serves a 17-county area in the northeastern most corner of New York State. These counties cover over 15,000 square miles, representing approximately 30% of New York State, and are home to 1.5 million people. It is estimated that 40,000 of the friends and neighbors living in this area have Alzheimer’s disease. As is the fact across the country, almost 80% of all persons who have Alzheimer’s live at home and are cared for by a family caregiver and 1 out of 3 adults personally know someone with the disease. This means that there are approximately ½ million people in the northeastern region of New York who need education, information and referral services and approximately 24,000 family caregivers who need support, respite care and an array of tools to help them with this difficult task.
We pride ourselves for being here for our families and those who work with our families. To make sure that we are accessible we have an administrative office in Albany and 11 Point-of-Services located throughout the region, including Sidney, Delhi, Cooperstown, Glens Falls, Queensbury, Indian Lake, Hudson, Catskill, Johnstown, Amsterdam and Fort Edward.
