Do you want to make a positive difference in the world and make reading more accessible & fun for children?! Join a team that is passionate about about providing literacy support and inspiring children to achieve their dreams!
As a Program day Intern, you’ll provide patient and positive customer support to our
readers, teachers and volunteers during program sessions. This unique volunteer role
provides hands-on leadership training that will help you learn how to lead with confidence,
communicate effectively, and collaborate with people of all backgrounds.

Requirements:
● You’re at least 15 years old
● You have access to a computer and reliable internet
● You’re able to commit at least 2 hours a week for 9 weeks
● You have availability at least two of the following times:
Wednesdays at 3:15pm, 4:15pm, or 5:15pm Pacific Time
Thursdays at 3:15pm, 4:15pm, or 5:15pm Pacific Time
Time Commitment: Must be available for at least 2 weekly Captain shifts
Available Shifts: January 25/25 - March 22/23
Wednesdays or Thursdays 3:15 - 4:15, 4:15 - 5:15, & 5:15 - 6:15pm PT
Training: 45 minute virtual training call with a Traveilng Stories Team member
Perks:
-You will receive: 1.5 volunteer hours per Captain shift
(although each shift is only 1 hour, we add some buffer time in since you will need to set up your computer prior to your shift and you may need to take some unwinding time if there are a lot of tech issues in the call!)
-A personalized reference letter from our CEO & Founder.
-Grow your professional skills while being an essential program day team member making a positive difference in the world! :)
Time Commitment: Mustbe available for at least 2 weekly Captain shifts
Available Shifts: January 25/25 - March 22/23

Training: 45 minute virtual training call with myself & Christelle where we will walk through our training flow chart, do a quick ZOOM tutorial, & answer any questions you have before your first shift! We will schedule this for a time that works for everyone that is before your first shift. :)

-If there is anything you would like more hands-on experience within the non-profit/business world, let us know and we will do our best to have you help us on additional projects that interest you! (Not a requirement, but we want you to get the most out of this experience so let us know if there is anything you are interested in learning more about!)
-Networking! Traveling Stories has a large donor/volunteer base, if you are looking for more contacts or mentors in a field let us know and we may be able to connect you to a professional in that field! :)

Description
We are looking for volunteers to read with kids at our StoryTents, located throughout San Diego County. Kids earn Book Bucks for reading with volunteers, which they can redeem for prizes! We need volunteers for Imperial Beach, National City, El Cajon, Santee, and City Heights. Each shift lasts 2-3 hours and each program runs weekly. We ask volunteers to commit a minimum of 2 hours per month. Small stipend available for StoryTent Captains, who run the StoryTents each week.
