What is the VITA Program?
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) is a program that offers free income tax preparation to low income, disabled, and limited English speaking taxpayers. HOPES Community Action Partnership Inc. is one of many agencies nationwide who partners with the IRS to provide such a service via IRS certified greeters, screeners, tax preparers.
How do I become certified?
All training material and exams are accessible through IRS’ web-based program, Link & Learn Taxes/VITA Central ( linklearncertification.com ). You can certify for various roles through self study or through our 3 part virtual training series tentatively scheduled for January 17 th, 19 th, & 23 rd 6PM-8PM.

HOPES CAP, Inc. (HOPES) is a Community Action Agency established in 1964 under President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act. HOPES was charged with the responsibility of combating poverty in Hudson County, New Jersey by providing a variety of social services for the community. Over the years, HOPES has remained committed to its mission of providing programs that respond to the social, educational, and training needs of low income individuals.
HOPES aims to benefit people throughout all stages of life by offering an array of relevant services in the areas of early childhood development, youth enrichment, adult services, and senior assistance. As a result of this commitment, HOPES has had successful results and earned the respect and trust of its clients, partners, and peers.
