Description

It's a Blessing to Be a Blessing (IAB) is a community organization that provides the following services to it's members. Daily bagged lunches, weekly hot lunches, a clothing and hygiene closet and a food pantry. IAB also provides life skill classes that focus on budgeting, employment, housekeeping, and cooking in order to help individuals be independent and successful in their community. IAB has provided financial and housing assistance to individuals on a case by case basis as funds are available. IAB hosts several community events throughout the year including a free Thanksgiving dinner for the community, Cold Hands Warm Heart which provides a hot meal and giveaways to individuals at the holidays, A back to school event in the fall, and participates annually in the South End Block Party.

IAB relies solely on grants, donations, and volunteer assistance to forward their cause. Volunteers are needed for the following areas: to assist with weekly hot lunches, to sort donated items, and to help with our community events.

IAB is also in need to board members to help guide the organization and its mission. Our board is in need of a treasurer, volunteer coordinator, and grant writer at this time.

TIme commitments for our volunteer positions are about 10 hours per week and we meet for two hours at our monthly board meeting. Aside from our community events some work can be done from home.
