Make the biggest impact by joining the CDE board! We want people who are committed to our mission and vision. We require our Board Members to give $500 in time, treasure, or talent. So what exactly does this mean?

  • Time = volunteering. There are so many opportunities to volunteer at CDE, especially when we have a performance going on!
  • Treasure = money or fundraising. You can give your $500 or get the money in donations.
  • Talent = unique skills that can help CDE.

Rooted in the tradition of Tanztheatre, Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble unites dance, theater, and visual arts to create contemporary performances that address social justice issues. Through our school-based art and performance programs, CDE helps students in Chicago schools explore their own creativity, supporting their social and emotional learning. CDE provides a physical and emotional space where community conversation and cultural change can happen.

Mission:

To engage, inspire, and challenge the community, both onstage and in the classroom, through innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary storytelling to illuminate aspects of social issues. We do this in the genre of Tanztheatre, "which unites all art media to achieve an all-embracing,

radical change in humankind."

Vision:

Residents of the Chicagoland area are inspired to make their world a better place by exploring important social issues in an artistic setting. All students have access to arts education and can holistically develop their skills to be proactive, positive members of society.

Equity Statement:

We strive to create an equitable and empowering space for our artists, administrators, teachers, and audiences, and for students of all backgrounds. We aim to build a platform for the voices of the diverse communities we serve. All are welcome.

Land Acknowledgment:

Ebenezer Lutheran Church Auditorium sits on the traditional homelands of the Three Fires Confederacy:

Odawa, Ojibwe, and Potawatomi nations, as well as the Fox, Ho-Chunk, Inoka, Miami, Sac, and their descendants. We recognize that Indigenous peoples are the traditional stewards of the land that we now occupy, living here long before Chicago was a city and still thriving here today. We invite you to join us in offering them our respect and gratitude."
