Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) needs volunteers to assist with their mobile food pantry. Volunteers will help set up food distribution and car registration areas, register food pantry participants, verify eligibility, assist with unpacking and sorting donated goods, packing food boxes, working collaboratively to load the food into client's cars, and clean and put away food tables and event signs.

LVIM's food pantry volunteers are self-motivated, are flexible in the workflow, work as a team, and communicate effectively with all walks of life. This position does involve excessive standing and walking time with occasional or continuous bending and lifting depending on which part the volunteer is working in. Volunteers may be under the minimum age if a parent/guardian is present.

In Polk County approximately 15% of the population faces food insecurity. LVIM is hosting their food pantry on the 2nd and last Tuesday of each month from 10:30a-2:00p to help alleviate food insecurity for their clients and neighbors. This food pantry is made possible by LVIM, the George Jenkins Foundation, United Way of Central Florida, and Feeding Tampa Bay.
