Our PFLAG chapter here in San Francisco is raising funds for our school education and support programs. We are looking for volunteers who are looking for opportunities to directly benefit queer students and ally groups by assisting in this effort.
You can find more details about the program itself here: https://pflagsf.org/schools
The volunteer position will consist of calling and emailing Bay Area businesses and organizations to ask to contribute to our cause (scripts and email templates will be provided) through one time donations or by joining our Small Business Network (https://pflagsf.org/local-biz). You can contribute as little as 1 hour a week and still make a huge difference.
This project can be a great time to develop any sales or marketing skills as well as learn exactly what it takes to raise money for a cause you are passionate about. Our Executive Director, Lilith Rose, will be overseeing the project and has a decade of experience in sales and marketing that they are happy to share with you. We will have weekly optional calls for questions, advice, or community building with other advocates.
If you want to take part of this project but aren't comfortable making phone calls, then consider being on the research side of finding businesses, organizations, or grant opportunities that the other volunteers can then take action on.
