Recruiting Organization: The Center for Evidence-Based Management

Introduction

Are you interested in learning the ins and outs of nonprofit development in a challenging and rewarding environment? Are you excited about the opportunity to work with smart and talented individuals across the world? Does working remotely on your own schedule excite you? Check out https://cebma.org/! At the Center for Evidence-Based Management our mission is to help people use the best available evidence to make better decisions. This means incorporating scientific evidence, smart practitioner advice, organizational data, stakeholders and more into the decision-making process. We give people and businesses the education, knowledge, and skills to make better decisions with the aim of enhancing business outcomes and the working environment for people everywhere.

Summary

The Center for Evidence-Based Management (CEBMa) is an independent, non-profit organization founded by an international group of management scholars and practitioners with the mission of helping people in organizations make better decisions with the use of evidence-based practice & management. Our vision is of a society where evidence-based practice is a defining feature of what it means to be a professional in business and non-profit organizations. We know that better decisions don't only make businesses more profitable, but they also enhance the work and lives of everyone impacted by them. We're currently looking for volunteer translators to join the team!

Description

Our materials include a textbook and a wide range of educational resources and tools for implementation in work settings. We also offer a 15-module certificate program in evidence-based management. For more information visit: https://cebma.org/membership/. We're looking to translate the site and all of our resources from English into multiple languages, so we're seeking fluent speakers of a variety of other languages to complete the translations. If you are interested in helping a not-for-profit organization, are fluent in both English and another language, and would like to learn about applying evidence to business and management along the way we would love to connect with you.

Responsibilities:
  • Translate two to three resources a month into a non-English language that you're also fluent in
  • Volunteers will have some choice as to which resources they work with.

Requirements:
  • Fluency in the language you'll be translating.
  • The translation is mainly manual, although using an application like DeepL or Google Translate as an assistant is acceptable. We don't mind an assist from software, but the full document should be reviewed for accurate translation between the two versions at least.

Basic Position Description:
  • Unpaid
  • Work from home (or wherever you choose)
  • Minimum three-month commitment
  • Letter of recommendation after three months of suitable work
  • Happy to discuss other similar offerings that you may be interested in, other than a letter of recommendation

How to Apply

Please forward your resume to a.halliday@cebma.org with the subject headline "Translator". Please specify which language(s) you speak fluently and are able to translate in and what your interests are. Although this isn't absolutely necessary, if you'd like to include a writing sample in your native language or an example of a document you've translated, that will help support your application. Thank you for your time and interest in this volunteer position!
