ORGANIZATION: The Iris Network

The Iris Network, located in Portland, ME, is a non-profit helping people with vision impairment or blindness attain independence and community integration. We have an assisted living facility located on our main campus and we are looking for someone to source current topic materials and lead respectful group discussions on the topics at hand with our residents!

Previous experience leading group discussions and public speaking is a plus!

Group discussions can be lead once or twice per week. It is up to you!

Helping people who are visually impaired or blind attain independence and community integration.

Description

Established in 1905, The Iris Network has been helping Maine's visually impaired community learn independent living skills through work of Vision Rehabilitation Therapists. At our main location we have an assisted living facility as well as the Training Center. The Training Center is to help people transitioning into independent life through 10-20 week programs which teach braille, cooking, knife skills, activity of daily living skills, basic home maintenance and pre-vocational skills such as resume writing, interviewing and assistive technologies.
