Above and Beyond's Tattoo Transformation Program has been in operation since 2016 and is completely unique in the intersecting worlds of substance abuse, trauma and skin art. Many times our patients have changed opinions of the skin art decisions they made while under the influence and find themselves retraumatized by their permanent reminders of temporary feelings. Many times, they're synonymous with amnesic episodes that never go away(Jimmy Buffet) and they can cause self-esteem degradation along with both silent and overt discrimination regarding jobs, landlords, and social partners.

We're looking for two levels of involvement:

  1. A Tattoo Program Manager who can make sure our certification is in order and that all the days of the week are eventually filled with competent, trained, responsible tattoo artist volunteers who offer their services to those who are enrolled in our recovery programs.
  2. Tattoo Artists who are available for one day a month to volunteer their services in our fully equipped shop to those who are enrolled in our recovery programs.
This is a one-of-a-kind program that calls for a one-of-a-kind artist/program director, who can help us put this kind of therapeutic treatment on the map of recovery as a legitimate and needed recovery modality!
