Join our community of learners! Literacy Minnesota is seeking volunteer co-teachers and assistants to support an adult English Language program at Hiawatha Collegiate High School, 3500 E. 28th St., Minneapolis, MN.
The program will run from mid-January 2023 through May 2023. Class times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Available Monday and/or Wednesday evenings, January - May 2023
- Skilled at connecting with people of diverse races, ethnicities, and backgrounds
- Desire to work cooperatively to meet the needs of participants
- Teaching experiences helpful but not required
- Training in the Foundations of Adult Literacy and the class curriculum is provided by Literacy Minnesota

Description
Open Door Learning Centers, part of Literacy Minnesota, provides English (ESL), GED, Digital Literacy, Careers, and other class opportunities to adult learners in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Volunteers are a critical part of the opportunities we offer to our students, and are a highly-involved and valued part of our community.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must be at least 18
- Orientation or Training
- 2.5 hours per week. Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 5:30-7:30 PM. (Classes start at 5:30; volunteers would be asked to arrive 15-30 minutes early to prepare and connect with their coordinator.)
- Complete an application and background check through Open Door Learning Centers. Commit to a minimum of 3 months or ideally the full class period of mid-January-May 2023.
