SCOPE OF VOLUNTEER DUTIES

Camp Casco is seeking an individual interested in helping plan, organize, and execute our second annual retreat designed just for siblings of childhood cancer patients & survivors! This camp will take place in Hinsdale, MA, July 11-14. Our camps are offered free-of-cost to our families to help combat the long-term challenges of childhood cancer.

You will work directly with our Program Director to plan camp logistics, select and train camp volunteers, and oversee all activities. You will lead the rest of the Sibling Retreat Leadership Team throughout planning and execution, helping our team meet internal deadlines and stay on track throughout the year. Throughout the in-person Retreat, you’ll provide your fellow leadership and camp counselors with the support they need to thrive in the camp setting.

Most importantly, you will get the unique opportunity to help create and lead a much-needed camp experience that helps siblings of childhood cancer get the dedicated support they deserve.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • At least 2 summers of camp experience, or comparable experience providing childcare
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized
  • Effective and supportive management style
  • Creativity and resourcefulness
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with special-needs populations appreciated, but not required

EXPECTATIONS & COMMITMENT

Applicants should be at least 21 years of age, be able pass a background check, and have at least two seasons of previous experience at a recreational camp for children. Applicants should be able to commit to help with this role through the execution of the camp session in 2023. Most volunteer work can be done remotely throughout the year, but applicants must be able to commit to attending every day of the in-person camp session in Hinsdale, MA (July 11-14).
