Xela Institute of Art is a new museum in Long Beach that aims to support a wide
breadth of artists from the contemporary art world, as well as hosting artist residencies and educational programs.
Xela Institute of Art is seeking volunteers who are passionate about art to aid in visitor experience, monitor the artworks and assist throughout the set up, reception, and closing activities of the exhibition.
Volunteers are needed for the exhibition opening, to help perform the following tasks:
- Welcome guests
- Manage guest list
- Guide visitors
- Monitor artworks
- Answer questions
- Assist in closing activities
- Take photographs of the exhibition
Ideal candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm about contemporary art, fluency in English, ability to work with others, willingness to learn, know how to take photographs with a smart phone, and are at least 18 years of age. Must wear all black business attire. Bilingual speakers who can help expand engagement with various visitors is a plus, however, it is not a requirement. Please inform us of any additional languages with application.
Prior knowledge of contemporary art or education may be helpful, although it is not required.

- Please arrive 1 hour before the event. It will take approximately 30 minutes after the event to complete closing activities. Volunteers are needed for the entire duration of the event including opening and closing activities. (5.5 hours total).
