This will involve collaborating with both public sector stakeholders and private sector stakeholders, including insurers, to identify, evaluate, and implement innovative solutions to reduce wildfire risk.

You will be responsible for "navigating" the complexity of this effort and "taming" it through effective project management practices, helping to ensure that the consortium's goals are achieved in a coordinated and efficient manner.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Researching and evaluating the efficacy of potential interventions and innovation categories for wildfire prevention, including the impact potential of combinations of interventions
  • Assessing the interdependencies and synergies of different interventions and gathering data to support their effectiveness
  • Fostering innovation due diligence sharing and collaboration to identify and test new interventions
  • Evaluating the impact of different combinations of interventions on community resilience, regeneration, and economic and health benefits, including the alignment of stakeholder interests with financial markets and financial products
  • Engaging a wide range of stakeholders in wildfire prevention efforts, including health insurers, property insurers, crop yield insurers, and multi-hazard peril insurers
  • Coordinating with other agencies and organizations to scale successful interventions across California
  • Developing strategies for sustainable funding and implementation of interventions

The Volunteer Project Manager will work with the consortium to identify opportunities for collaboration and to develop and execute a plan to achieve the consortium's goals. This may involve coordinating with subject-matter experts, social entrepreneurs, and other volunteers, as well as developing and managing project timelines and budgets.

This is a volunteer role that will require a commitment of at least 5 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours as needed. The Volunteer Project Manager will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and dedicated team and make a meaningful contribution to wildfire prevention efforts in California.
