Poetry Slams are Olympic-style competitions where poets have 3 minutes to rock the stage and 5 judges give it a score. The Teen Poetry Slam consists of 3 rounds - preliminary, semi-finals, and finals. The top-scoring poets in each preliminary bout move on to the semifinals, with the highest-scoring poet from each preliminary bout winning $50.
We need Production Greenroom volunteers to help us create a welcoming event for our poet storytellers.
Our Semifinal and Final Slams will be on the following dates and locations:
- Friday, January 27th at the Bayview Opera House
- Friday, February 10th at Brava Theater Center
- Friday, March 10th at Herbst Theatre
- Setting up backstage/greenroom for artists
- Organizing backstage/greenroom for artists
- Ensuring that only authorized persons enter the space
- Cleaning up and restoring backstage/greenroom after the event
