ORGANIZATION: Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits

8000+ people in Graham County live in poverty which often limits food choices and is linked to many diet-related diseases. The VISTA with Our Neighbors Farm and Pantry (ONFP) will develop and implement the programs to promote ONFP, increase financial support, help provide current employees with vital skills, and refine the volunteer program. The resulting efforts will be a food pantry with a solid sustainability plan for the future. During the year as a VISTA with ONFP, a VISTA can expect to build relationships with local schools, develop new programs, and partner with internal stakeholders. The Alliance VISTA team offers monthly professional development, a state-wide network of support, and beauty that can only be found in rural Arizona. Relocation to the community required. Tasks include: 1)Increase brand awareness of ONFP with the local community, nonprofit organizations, municipalities, and tribal leadership. 2)Engage in resource development (grant writing, individual giving, and corporate giving) to build the food distribution capacity of ONFP. 3)Develop the volunteer network to promote and engage volunteers in ONFP programs. 4)Ensure there is a sustainable transfer of knowledge, products, and relationships to the appropriate person who will be picking up elements of your project after your service year. This is an AmeriCorps National Service position. This service opportunity is one year, full-time, and offers a stipend. The service opportunity includes: Living Allowance, Relocation Allowance, End of Service Award, Healthcare Benefit, Non-Competitive Eligibility, and Professional Development training. The position is located with Seeds of Hope. Relocation to Safford, Arizona is required.
