Unofficially dubbed the "International express", the 7 train runs through multiple neighborhoods that are home to various ethnicities. This makes every stop along this route an opportunity to learn more about the ethnic diversity of the people whom live in these communities.
HI NYC is seeking a volunteer that is able to take international travelers to one or more of the neighborhoods to learn more about it's history and explore some local eateries and shops!
Areas to tour include but are not limited to:
- Long Island City
- Sunnyside
- Woodside
- Jackson Heights
- Woodside
- Flushing-Main Street
Our bustling NYC hostel hosts travelers from across the globe! Our activities aim to teach travelers about New York's rich history, the culture of our local communities/neighborhoods, and of the greater United States.

HI USA is 501(c)(3) non-profit education association. Our purpose is to "inspire a deeper understanding of people places and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, the revenues we receive through overnight stays and memberships is reinvested in mission delivery.
HI New York is a nonprofit hospitality and education organization and the largest hostel in North America.

HI New York's volunteer program serves the over quarter-million visitors each year who stay in North America's largest and New York's most popular hostel. For over 20 years, HI New York has welcomed travelers to New York City. Our goal is to create active world citizens and to have a broader understanding of the world. We are looking for people to help our hostellers connect with New York and the world.
