ORGANIZATION: Transformation House

Transformation House serves women and children who have experienced trauma and abuse by providing them with the resources they need to rebuild their lives. Our social workers play an essential role and serve as therapists and case mangers for our families.

As an intern, you would work closely with our Clinical Director and Director of Case Management. You would provide services that address the psychosocial needs of women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. You would participate in systems-based social work involving the mother, her children, her case manager, and their therapists to identify needs, establish a plan, and collaborate with community agencies to provide additional support.

Tasks may include:
Conducting intakes and assessments.
Participating in goal-setting sessions.
Advocating for and/or accompanying a client to a goal-related task.
Providing psycho-educational training.
Leading group therapy sessions.
Providing individual therapy sessions as well as crisis intervention.
Developing programs to address demonstrated needs.
Planning and delivering training sessions on topics such as trauma-informed care.

Interns must document their work in accordance with agency policies and adhere to all employee guidelines.

Position is part-time and flexible.

Founded in 2018 in Kendall County, Transformation House provides transitional housing and support services to women and children who have experienced abuse. We employ a dual-generation, wrap-around approach that includes case management and therapy for mothers and their children.
