The Event

We are now accepting volunteers for our annual Vancouver Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade 2023! Come join over 3000 participants to celebrate the Lunar New Year in the heart of our Chinatown community. As one of our 200 volunteers, you will be part of a dynamic and hardworking team that will play an integral role in making our 2023 Chinatown Spring Festival Parade a success!


Number of volunteers needed: 200

Date: January 22nd, 2023 (Sunday)

Location: Volunteers will first gather at Choi Hall, 28 West Pender, Vancouver

Shift times:

  • 8am-2pm (refreshments included)
  • 10am-4pm (refreshments included)
  • 8am-4pm (hot lunch included)

Volunteer Online Orientation: January 18th, 2023 @ 6:30pm

Dress Code: Please dress warmly with no open-toed shoes (preferably sneakers) on the event day (check weather forecast)

Please sign up for shifts that will work well with your schedule. You will be assigned to one or more of the following volunteer roles depending on your availability and the needs of the parade team:

  1. Set-up
  2. Volunteer Registration and Central Dispatch
  3. Parade Team Registration and Lost Child Station
  4. General Affairs and Pace-keeping
  5. Zone Watchers
  6. Choy Cheng Zone Enforcers
  7. Firecracker truck
  8. VIP Reception and Booth
  9. Clean up/take down

*Most of the roles will require long periods of standing, please take that into consideration before signing up.

Safety Precautions - We will be following the current public health guidelines that are applicable to this volunteer opportunity. Volunteers may be assigned an indoor or outdoor role, it is recommended that volunteers wear a mask when staying indoors.
