South Shore Cat Experience:
Ensure the comfort and care of cats, kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs while they await adoption. Help potential adopters meet the animals and talk about adoption process.
Volunteer Opportunities:

- Small Animal (Rabbit & Guinea Pig) Care
- Adoption Counselor
Feline Care:
- Duties:
- Feeding
- Cleaning
- Socializing
- Required Training:
- Orientation class
- Cat care class
- Two mentoring shifts of two hours each
Small Animal Care:
- Duties:
- Feeding
- Cleaning
- Socializing
- Required Training:
- Orientation Class
- Small Animal Care class
- One mentoring shift of two hours
Adoption Counselor:
- Duties:
- Speak with potential adopters about adoption process
- Process all adoption paperwork
- Required Training:
- Go through all animal training and mentoring
- Adoption counseling training
- Training on adoption database
- At least two mentoring shifts of two hours each

- 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM
- afternoon / 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM

FAAS’s mission is to shelter and care for abandoned companion animals, find them new homes, and prevent animal cruelty through education and outreach
Description
Through a unique public-private partnership, FAAS has managed the open-intake City of Alameda Animal Shelter since 2012. With innovative programs, community partnerships, and a passionate base of volunteers and donors, each year FAAS saves on average 97% of the nearly 1,000 lost, abandoned, and homeless animals who enter the city’s shelter. Readers of Alameda Magazine have recognized FAAS as the community’s Best Nonprofit Group for eight consecutive years.
