Take a Kid to the Theatre is an outreach program through Edmonds Driftwood Players. We are looking for youth educators to conduct free onsite creative workshops at our partner shelter and transitional housing locations which include: Shoreline, Lynnwood, and South Everett. Youth at these facilities range in age from 1-18. However, most of our creative workshops host youth aged 6-15. Our workshops are a maximum of 1 hour and educators are paid a stipend of $50 per workshop to help offset travel expenses. The content of the workshops are interactive exercises that use theater related games to relieve stress and engage the kids and their imagination. Our partner locations will require that educators are fully vaccinated and also submit to a background check. EDP will also require its own background checks and liability paperwork. Preferably educators should have historically worked with kids either in a school environment or in off site workshops, camps, etc. We work with child and family advocates at each facility to schedule the workshops. During the school year, the workshops are usually after school activities (approximately 4-6pm). During the summer, workshops can be scheduled during daytime hours.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Edmonds Driftwood Players is to enliven the Edmonds community and the Puget Sound region through quality theatrical productions. By providing a facility, supervision, and education, we seek to inspire developing talent of all ages by opening our doors as a stepping-stone into the Puget Sound arts community. Through our pursuit of professionalism and education, it is our goal to both entertain and culturally enrich our community while offering artists and hobbyists the opportunity to hone skills in the performing arts in a supportive, community atmosphere.

It all began over a cup of coffee in an Edmonds, Washington living room one day in 1957. A very keen and talented group of people wanted to form a theatre group... For more than 40 years, The Driftwood Players have been a cultural asset to the City of Edmonds and surrounding communities by educating and entertaining audiences through their commitment to producing live, quality theatre. From music and comedy to drama and mystery, The Driftwood Players are proud of their theatre and the plays they produce. Audience support continues to grow with each new season, allowing us to say "Curtain up, light the lights!"
