Rivera Elementary is a beautiful school with talented teachers and an engaged community. As we continue to adjust to schooling after school closures, we have also witnessed the ramifications of learning gaps due to distance learning. Our students are eager to learn and while they have parents who volunteer and want to help, there is still an education barrier that limits how much support they can receive at home. Given our limited funds, we have not been able to hire more college tutors to support our upper grades during the day or offer after school tutoring to our students. Our goal is to provide support to our 4th and 5th grade students in order to ensure we prepare them for success in middle school by making up for lost time through tailored interventions. Additionally, with just REACH (an after school program) currently serving our students, there is a dire need for a tutoring center that provides Homework Help and academic support.
2 Shifts

08:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Volunteers will support 4th & 5th grade classrooms with centers.

afternoon /
02:00 PM to 03:45 PM
Volunteers will set up a tutoring center in the Library to support students signed up for tutoring (this will be tailored by grade level).

- For our morning shift, we are looking for volunteers that are available between 8:30-11:30am with a maximum time commitment of 15 hours per week (3 hrs everyday) but are open to 2 hours per day. For our afternoon shift, we are looking for 2 hrs per.
