A 61-year-old man with ALS and his wife would love a volunteer to help them with cleaning, household chores, and potentially meal prep. His wife writes, "As my husband's cares get to be more, my household cleaning is lacking. This is truly what we are in need of right now."
The best times for them to have a volunteer visit would be Monday-Friday afternoons: they would ideally like someone who is able to visit once a week for approximately 2 hours each time. They do not have any pets, nor does anyone smoke in their home.
If you have 2 extra hours a week to help a neighbor in need, we'd love to hear from you! This opportunity is part of the ALS Association's Family Assistance Program:

The ALS Association, Iowa provides direct services, resources and support to Iowans affected by ALS through our care services and programs. The core Chapter services include:
Equipment Loan Program
Quality of Life Grant Program
Patient and Family Support Groups

Over 85% of the money raised through The ALS Association, Iowa stays local to provide services to Iowans impacted by ALS. We also support global, cutting-edge ALS research and participate in state and federal advocacy efforts to find additional treatments and a cure. There are approximately 250 Iowans living with ALS at any given time and our organization has grown from providing services to a handful of patients with ALS in the Des Moines area in 2003 to serving 220+ patients statewide in 2015.
