Close the Gap is looking for a team of mission-driven and empathetic program managers to collaborate on a nimble team that will be responsible primarily for engaging with our summer fellowship participants through weekly check-ins, virtual socials, Slack channel engagement, and workshops.

Our annual virtual summer fellowship program includes a diverse group of students who are first-generation and low-income students. We have an ambitious goal to scale our program participation by 5x, and your efforts will shape the future of our nonprofit organization, making a very tangible impact in these students’ lives, and future students for years to come.

This role will require a minimum commitment from join date to late September 2023

• Manage our Close the Gap Discord servers including, setting up roles, structuring channels, create onboarding process for members, and ensure messages and users are appropriate
• Post engaging content in our community servers to help promote discussion and build connections
• Be the main point of contact for Close the Gap in our digital communities
• Plan and organize virtual events for community members.
• Work cross functionally to share highlights and feedback with the rest of the Close the Gap team
• Potential opportunity to be lead our newest Close the Gap Program

• BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
• You embody high emotional intelligence to understand how people come together virtually
• You are in a couple different online communities, preferably Discord based ones
• You are comfortable engaging with both high school/college students as well as working professionals
• You are passionate about creating an equitable society

• Ability to commit 15 hours per week
• Ability to attend weekly staff meetings, currently on Thursdays at 8:00 pm PT
• Deep passion for virtual communities
• Project management skills to host virtual events and plan content postings
• Commitment to advocacy, diversity and serving the community
• You are team player who values transparency, accountability, and diversity

• Experience with community management
• Prior experience working with students in the high school and low income demographic
• Participated in a mentorship program before
