Are you looking to make a tangible difference in your community? Join us as a friendly and compassionate Grocery Distribution Volunteer, helping neighbors in the Seattle area access nutritious food in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Shifts Available:
Our grocery distribution program runs during the following times, and you can select a shift that works best for you:
- Tuesdays:
- 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
- 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
- Wednesdays: At Capacity
- Thursdays: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Your Role:
As a Grocery Distribution Volunteer, you will:
- Greet and assist clients as they select their groceries.
- Restock items on the grocery line and help maintain a clean, organized space.
- Carry bags or assist clients as needed.
- Support a safe and welcoming environment for all.
You Are:
- Friendly, approachable, and eager to help people from diverse backgrounds.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced setting and able to lift items weighing up to 25-50 lbs.
- Available during weekday shifts and able to commit to a regular weekly schedule of 2-3 hours.
- Open to receiving instructions and collaborating with a supportive team.
- Bonus: Knowledge of a second language (Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Russian, etc.) is helpful but not required!

Mission Statement
In downtown Seattle, the Pike Market Senior Center strives to make each day better and safer for older adults; the Pike Market Food Bank serves people of all ages who face hunger. Together, we provide services, activities, and support that lead to more self sufficient and fulfilling lives.
Description
The Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank is located in the historic Pike Place Market. We have been serving our neighbors in the heart of Seattle since 1978.
The Senior Center serves people age 55 and up. Membership is free and there are no fees for meals, services or regular activities. While people from all walks of life are members of PMSC, we are pioneers in offering senior center programming to elders who are homeless.
The Food Bank serves people of any age, offering free groceries, ready-to-eat food for clients experiencing homelessness, and home delivery for qualified residents of Downtown Seattle. We serve 800 in-person grocery clients weekly and distribute over 300 grocery deliveries.
