House of England is part of the unique International Cottages of Balboa Park.
Every Saturday and Sunday the cottages are open and visitors come through to check out the various Houses/cottages, such as House of Poland, House of Korea, House of Denmark, etc.
House of England seeks volunteers to help staff the cottage during our open hours (Sat & Sun 11-4). You say hello and offer tea to visitors. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE ENGLISH!! Do you like Harry Potter, the Beatles, Jane Austen? That is enough.
Shifts go from 11am to 4pm each Saturday and Sunday. Shorter shifts also available.
Two people host at each shift. Visitors come from near and far and are delighted by the House of England! Some will tell you they grew up in England, or that they just got back from a visit there, or are planning a visit there. People are happy to be there. The atmosphere is very light and upbeat.
If you're interested but not completely sure, just do a 15 minute tour/overview with no commitment at all.
The House of Pacific Relations (HPR) community is great. This 'gig' is especially good if you're a people person and/or have an interest in the international community. Contact us if you have questions.

Mission Statement
House of England is part of the charming International Houses of Pacific Relations (HPR) in Balboa Park. House of England is dedicated to greeting visitors, offering tea, and sharing English culture, both old and new, to all of our wonderful guests.
Description
House of England is one of 32 unique international cottages in Balboa Park. On the weekends the cottages are staffed by members. In House of England you will find interesting bits and bobs on everything from the Beatles to Jane Austin, Harry Potter (including a sorting hat!), Dr Who, English royalty, and so much more. All of the cottages are open to the public every Saturday and Sunday for five hours between 11am and 5:00 PM. Refreshments are served and donations are welcomed to defray costs.
