I founded AIRC in 2021 with the help of two friends. One of them is a (former) law professor and a data scientist. The other is one is a past presidents at my Toastmasters club. Both are wonderful people without whom no organization would be standing today. I worked very hard to bring this organization into existence as a 501(c)(3) public charity (U99) based in California. I envisioned this project because I wanted to contribute back some charitable work that I learned in programming. And I also wanted to learn how to build and run and organization.

I managed to file tax and information returns for my first year. However, my organization also suffered the consequences of difficult times. The board of directors fell apart. And I ended up as the sole custodian of this organization. Which is fine with me. But not acceptable according to the IRS and Attorney General rules for me to keep the 501(c)(3) status. Now, I’m facing the hard reality of dissolution. Which I don’t really mind because this will give me an excuse to learn something new. I can then build another organization with an improved structure. I’m an entrepreneur! I am also a professional in the fields of Data Science, Machine Learning, and GIS. And I’d be more than happy to share my knowledge and experience with someone who I can work with and trust. It is a great endeavor. And there’s a lot to learn and grow. However, there’s real work to do. And you must be dedicated.

Some of the requirements for someone to be successful in this role are:

Entrepreneurial.

An entrepreneurial mindset is highly appreciated. Forget about getting detailed instructions to accomplish work tasks. Resources can be provided if necessary. But you should be someone who isn’t afraid to embrace your efforts in doing something new even if you have to re-iterate over it multiple times. You might be asked to develop a role if necessary.

Reading.

At some point you’ll have to fill out information or tax returns. It’s one of those applications that you’d have to take a couple of online courses and read a guide book and instructions to fill out. You don’t have to have an experience in filling out legal documents. However, you should have an interest because learning this kind of work requires a substantial commitment.

Online Productivity

It is preferred to have experience using online productivity tools such as Google or Microsoft for example.

Discipline

Even under difficult conditions. You’re expected to meet your commitments. The whole organization depends on your leadership!

Direct communications

I’m a direct communicator. You’re someone who isn’t afraid from direct communication or criticism on whichever side of the table. Everyone selflessly works for the benefit of something greater than themselves. This is a public entity and criticism is not only encouraged but also publicly solicited.

Data Science and Machine Learning

It’s preferred if you do have a background in these topics. But you don’t really have to have any technical experience for perform this role. This is optional. At least you should have an interest in a technical or related field.

Public Events

You’re willing to participate in or host an industry or academic events on behalf of the organization across the United States.

Unpaid

You’ll get a lot of thank you notes from me. Some of the best performing organizations on a global scale are volunteer based.

Remote

All work is remote. Board meetings are required.

Bylaws

You’ll have to sign an agreement and the Bylaws. Comments are welcome.

School Credit

Students might be eligible for school credit by participating in an internship or fellowship
