Our Dog fosters play a vital role in the successful placement of dogs in their forever homes. The foster position is a very rewarding and emotional position. We rely on fosters to take care of our dogs until they find their forever homes. This includes providing basic training and communicating behavior to the adoption coordinator and program chair to assist with proper placement. Only people serious about being involved, and passionate about dog placement should apply.

Our volunteers are extremely important to the success of The Humane Society of Bay County. Every volunteer opportunity contributes to the health and safety of the pets in our care and plays a vital role in helping these animals find their forever homes. We are excited that you are considering volunteering with us, and we want to work with you to find the volunteer opportunity that works best for you!

All our volunteers must support the Mission and Vision of HSBC. This includes doing our part to help pets live their best lives. We are looking for volunteers that love pets enough to do what is right for them.

All volunteers are expected to keep their commitments, support a positive environment, and do their part to ensure the pets in our care live in a clean environment and are provided fresh food, water and love every day.

Dog Foster

• Provide a warm, safe home for pet until their forever home is found
• Be committed to providing structure for the dog so they can easily adapt to a new home
• Assist in basic training for the pet
• Ability to commit time, and patience to the pet, giving him or her a loving home until placement is complete
• Report back to coordinator/chair with information about the dog’s personality and behavior
• Transport/arrange transport of foster dog to medical appointments
• Transport/arrange transport to adoption events
• Bring foster dogs to adoption meet and greets and tell potential adopters about dog
• Any other tasks necessary for the safety of the pets in our care
