Social Media Intern Job Descriptions
10-25 hrs a week
Majority of Internship can be virtual

Children First
Children First, Inc.’s mission is to engage families in the Athens-Oconee communities and the court to promote safe, stable and nurturing living environments for children. Description:
The social media intern will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Children First website and blog, newsletter, Facebook and Instagram pages along with any other social media initiatives that may be utilized. They would create and post content on social media platforms from the social media calendar. They would be strongly encouraged to attend events through-out the week to capture content and experiences. Attend weekly staffing meetings and monthly Social Media collaboration meetings. Although this is an unpaid internship, we are willing to assist provide class credit and potential financial connections through the University.
The ideal candidate would poses:
- Experience with Canva
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A passion for nonprofits
- Self-motivation
- Time-management experience
- A strong background in social media including responding to posts and messages and notifying staff when needed
- Ability to commit to 10-25 hours of work per week
- An understanding of the discrete nature of some of the work involved with Children First, Inc.
- The ability to monitor and keep abreast of new social media trends
Maintenance
- Website (2x/week)
- Ensure interactivity

- Work with the implementation of the new website
- Google analytics
- Monthly analysis of traffic
- Google Adwords - what is this and what are we doing wrong
- Blog (1-2x month) or more as needed)

- Interviews w/ Staff, Volunteers, Board, Etc.
- Maintain chatter - comments, reply
- Tag blogs with words to increase traffic
- Maintain links and consistency w/ , Facebook, Twitter, IG
- Occasionally create blog posts for Athens Oconee CASA website
- Newsletter (1x a month)
- Posts of Children First news and events
- Photos
- Interviews w/ Staff, Volunteers, Board, Etc.
- Upcoming Events
- Fundraising
- Data
- Awareness/Outreach
- Celebrations
- Facebook/Instagram (5-10x/week or more as needed)
- Maintain links b/w website, blog, YouTube, Pinterest
- Increase interaction
- Maintain chatter
- Thank you’s for comments, donations
- Alert staff to interesting/problematic comments
- Interact with other non-profits / agencies and follow
- Advertise Events
- Post photos of events and thank you’s to participants.
- Use CANVA to create visuals
- Collect and share data from Meta with Staff
- YouTube
- Upload and Post videos
- Work on Animation videos, collaborating with Children First Programs and Staff
- Projects

- Releases and PSAs for Recruitment events
- Recruit Volunteers through local recruitment venues
- Promote CASA recruitment events, including Volunteer Orientation
- Work with CASA staff on marketing and recruitment campaigns

Children First, Inc. is a local nonprofit agency that administers several programs in the field of child welfare:
Athens-Oconee CASA trains and supervises volunteers to provide legal advocacy for abused and neglected children
Family Time Community Visitation provides supervised visitation for families seperated by abuse or neglect.
SPARC - Supportive Parenting and Access Resource Center works with non-custodial parents to increase their emotional and financial support of their children
