The Disaster Action Team (DAT) Auxiliary Team Member is an introductory opportunity to support the local Disaster Action Team with basic tasks during in-person response. Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing. Once expedited training requirements are met, a Disaster Action Team (DAT) Auxiliary Team Member can accompany a trained Disaster Action Team Member on the scene to provide comfort and recovery services to those impacted.
These volunteers respond to disaster call within 2 hours of being notified with a trained Disaster Action Team Member. When they arrive, they greet clients, explain the process as necessary, assist with initial intake and comfort to the client.
